Beans

1998. FRP, iron, mortor, rubber, S:450x700x350, M:700x1100x600,  L:900x1600x800mm.

A participatory installation that the audience straddles the jellybeans. The pop and playground-like visuals tempt the visitors to join in. Whether alone or in the presence of others, the participating visitors enter their world. The self can be pseudo-isolated and eventually realized. Although it is audience participation, it is a device that leads the audience into solitude.

観客がジェリービーンズに跨る参加型のインスタレーション。ポップで遊具的なビジュアルが観客を誘う。参加する観客は、一人であろうと、他人に見られながらであろうと、自分自身の世界に入り込んでいく。自己を擬似的に隔離することができ、やがてそのことに気づく。観客参加型であるが、実は観客を孤独に導く装置である。
