statement
In recent years, my practice and research have centered on the themes of spatial perception, representational change, and phenomenal consciousness. I seek to manifest "specific scenes and phenomena" that explore how these elements construct our internal reality.
Perception is not a passive reception of data, but a process of interpreting and assigning meaning to sensory stimuli—one heavily influenced by an individual’s experiences, knowledge, and cultural background. Recent studies suggest that our brains proactively predict the world based on past experiences. Consequently, the world we "see" is a subjective perception, pre-conditioned by a personal framework of memory and expectation, making it inherently unique and impossible to share fully with others.
My work emphasizes the specificity of place and is realized through the viewer’s lived experience of the space. By invoking subjective experiences and multisensory integration, I intend to foster a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, allowing for diverse understandings rooted in individual emotions and histories. Because the installations are in a state of constant flux, they defy immediate identification or easy interpretation. Instead, they manifest a loop where perception and reconsideration interact continuously.
Mediated by space and time, this experience directs the viewer’s awareness toward their own perceptual processes. I hope this becomes a catalyst for discovering new perspectives and deeper insights.
Ultimately, I believe that this internal journey—contemplating the hidden phenomena and the subconscious layers of perception—will eventually resonate with an individual’s real-world actions and the way we find meaning in human existence.

FUJIWARA Takahiro
近年、私は人の脳内における「空間の知覚」「表象の変化」「現象的意識」を主題に、「ある光景・ある現象」を空間に立ち上げる表現研究と制作を行っている。
知覚とは、脳に伝達された刺激情報を処理し、意味づけるプロセスであり、個人の経験や知識、文化的背景などが感覚情報の解釈に大きく影響する。また近年の研究では、過去の経験に基づく脳内の予測も知覚に関与していることが示されている。つまり、私たちが「見ている」と感じている世界は、個人的な経験と予測の枠組みによってあらかじめ方向づけられた、主観的かつ他者には共有しきれない固有の知覚であると言える。
私の作品は、場の固有性との関係を重視し、鑑賞者の空間経験によって成立する空間表現である。主観的な経験や複数の感覚を統合した知覚を喚起するアプローチを通して、鑑賞者が作品と対話し、それぞれの感情や経験に基づく多様な理解が生まれることを意図している。また、作品は絶えず変化し動き続けるため、瞬時に同定・解釈することは容易ではなく、認識と再考が相互に作用するループを現出させる。その経験は、空間や時間を媒介として知覚に働きかけ、鑑賞者自身の知覚プロセスへと意識を向けさせる。そこから、新たな視点やより深い理解を見いだすための契機が生まれることを期待している。
普段は意識の水面下にある知覚や、隠れた事象へと思いを巡らせる内面的な旅は、やがて個人の現実の行動や、人間の生の意味づけへとつながっていくと私は考えている。
