into the Blue

2008. Acrylic polymer, helium, 8500(W)x8500(D)x6000(H)mm.

A giant cone-shaped balloon that rotates slower while emitting blue light in the dark.

Into the Blue presents two distinct faces. From a distance, it floats quietly. But Looking up into the interior will give a dazzling light array, refracted through the intricate layers, and it isn't easy to recognize its shape.

Though it is a transparent material, the appearance on the inside and the outside are entirely different three-dimensional.

暗闇の中でブルーの光を放ちながらゆっくりと回転する、巨大な円錐形のバルーン。

「into the Blue」は、2つの異なる顔を演出する。

外観は静かに浮遊している印象だが、下から見上げた内部空間は、複雑な表層に乱反射した光が舞い、形状を認識することが困難である。透明素材でありながら、内と外での見え方が全く異なる立体である。
